Leo

The summer heat melted the asphalt, and the air above the go-kart track shimmered with a haze. I came here with friends to unwind after a tough exam period. The roar of engines, the smell of burnt rubber—it all seemed a stark contrast to the monotony of the university library. It was my first time behind the wheel, and I admit, the mere thought of it gave me goosebumps.

The instructor turned out to be a guy in his mid-twenties, with a shock of unruly red hair and eyes the color of burnt sugar. His name was Leo, and he immediately caught my attention. Not only with his striking appearance, but also with an inner energy that sparkled in every movement.

He patiently explained the safety rules, showed me how to control the kart, and repeated the brakes several times. His hands barely touched mine as he demonstrated the correct grip, but their contact sent a warmth through my body.

"Ready, beauty?" he winked at me, sending me on my way.

The first lap was a complete nightmare. I kept stalling on the turns, crashing into the barriers, and almost colliding with another kart. Leo stood at the edge of the track, shouting encouragement:

• Don't be afraid, step on the gas!

After a few laps, I started to get used to the controls and even felt a thrill. The speed, the adrenaline, the wind in my hair—it was incredible!
