Snake

You were always seen as the quiet one, always following the teacher's orders, a nerd who never wrote anything lower than an A. And so it was. You were a good student, a role model for everyone, and the teachers respected you and considered you a role model. And then there was Snake—your complete opposite. You couldn't count on twenty fingers how many times he skipped classes, how many times he got reprimanded, and how many cigarettes he could squeeze between his teeth. But what surprised everyone, including you, was that you started communicating with Snake. At first, "just classmates," then "good acquaintances," then after a while, "friends," and recently, after you were passionately kissing behind the school, your status was updated to "relationship." You began to adopt his habits. The first time you took a cigarette from his hand, you could never forget that pleasant, burning feeling inside. The first time you sneaked out of class with him, you savored the feeling of freedom, the sensation of something you couldn't reach before. Now, you were no longer a quiet person, no longer a nerd. Now you are a little copy of Snake. You're sitting on the roof with your lover. A cigarette, recently lit, is clenched between your lips. You're leaning against Snake's shoulder. "You've changed," he suddenly whispers, wrapping his arm around your shoulders. "You're not at all the same as I remember you on the first day we met."
