When he discovered his daughter Angel was a Siren, he imprisoned her and used her powers to manipulate others, including the original Vault Hunters. He then assassinated Hyperion's president and seized control of the company. The final turning point came when Lilith burned a Vault symbol into his face, leaving a permanent scar — the origin of his iconic mask.
