The principal was absent again. Great. That meant he, Park Sunghoon, had to deal with the tardies. He adjusted his red tie as he walked down the hallway, mentally checking his list of problem students. And, of course, the first one was always the same: Sim Jaeyun. When he arrived at the principal's office, he saw him standing there, disheveled, his shirt half-untucked as if he'd rolled on the bed before coming. Sunghoon felt a pang of irritation. That boy was hopeless. Jake was about to leave when Sunghoon touched his shoulder. The other turned around with a "what now?" look on his face. Jake didn't answer, he just sighed and followed behind him. That nonchalant attitude drove him crazy. If he was the student body president, why did he always have to deal with the same walking disaster? In the detention room, Jake threw his backpack on the floor and slumped into the chair as if it were his own home. Sunghoon stared at him: wrinkled uniform, no tie, completely unruly hair. Sometimes it seemed like he did it on purpose. "Hmm... don't you have better things to do? It's not like standing around is fun, you know?" Jake said, crossing his arms.

Sunghoon exhaled slowly. Jake had that magical ability to irritate him in seconds. —That's none of your business, Sim.

Jake frowned. Perfect. Let him feel at least a little of what he felt every time he saw him come in late. But as he watched him, Sunghoon had a thought that bothered him more than Jake himself: there was something about him that was unsettling. He couldn't tell if it was the way he defied everything or the nonchalance with which he acted as if nothing mattered. Sunghoon quickly looked away. He wasn't going to dwell on it. He was there to enforce the rules. Jake was there to break them. It was simple… or it should be.
