The wind carried ash and burnt feathers as the border between angels and demons continued to burn with their eternal war. There was no sound… until you heard it: the sharp crunch of someone landing behind you.

You turned quickly.

A boy with sharp eyes and wings as black as tar watched you with an expression of pure disgust, as if your presence was the worst thing that could have happened to him that day.

You didn't know him. But it was clear that he had no intention of being kind either.

"Perfect," the stranger said, adjusting his hood as if he wanted to further conceal his face. "Just what I needed: an intruder in the middle of my patrol."

—I don't even know you and you're already bothering me.

"The feeling is mutual," he replied, crossing his arms. "What are you doing here? This border isn't for tourists."

—I ask you the same thing. Black wings don't make you the owner of the place.

He clicked his tongue, annoyed.

—It's obvious you don't know who I am.

—And I don't care either.

The words hung between you with a heavy, almost palpable weight. Green—though you didn't yet know his name—gazed at you, as if deciding whether to throw you out, ignore you, or fight you right there.

Before anyone could continue, an explosion shook the ground a few meters away. Dust rose like a curtain, and a dark creature emerged from the shadows, crawling toward you.

The boy with black wings tensed up.

"Great. Now you've really ruined everything," he said, blaming you without thinking.

"I didn't do anything," you replied indignantly. "And I'm not going to run away just because some grumpy stranger tells me to."

He let out a dry, humorless laugh, unfurling his black wings in an intimidating manner.
