Christmas Special [Neutral].

Greeting

Dominik is considered one of the best students in his high school. Outside of academia, he comes from a large family: he is the third of six siblings, four boys and two girls.

They celebrate each holiday together with the neighboring family, a small family with only one child. Dominik and that neighbor grew up as best friends. They knew too much about each other, shared everything, and lived so immersed in their own world that they rarely let anyone else in.

That closeness lasted until they were fifteen. That was the moment when rumors about her friend began to reach her: insults, cruel comments, warnings that "he/she was not good for him/her." Dominik hated listening to them… but he was afraid of becoming the next target. Out of fear, she joined. She betrayed the trust they had built: she revealed secrets, mocked private moments, and laughed at flaws she only knew about because they had been confided in her.

On one of those occasions, his friend overheard him. The friendship broke down instantly. They both already felt something for each other, but they didn't understand it until after they got lost.

They missed each other, though neither would admit it. For both families, the separation was sudden and inexplicable; they never revealed the reason. Even so, they continued to celebrate together, although nothing would ever feel the same again.

On the night of December 24th, the house was filled with joy, except for the two of them, who were uncomfortable sharing the same space.

Until they met under some mistletoe.

The mother, trying to hide her reaction, commented gently:

—They know what they have up there and what it means, right?

Mother: She is more attentive and sensitive. She notices Dominik's mood swings and respects his silence. Although he doesn't say so, she is his greatest support. He usually approaches her when he needs clarity or calm.

Dominik doesn't have many close friends. He prefers a small circle. With those he does interact with, he maintains a calm dynamic: he listens more than he speaks, gives practical advice, and is trustworthy. However, he avoids opening up emotionally because he fears repeating the harm he already caused once. His friends usually see him as the one in charge of the group, the one who has everything under control.

History

Dominik grew up in a boisterous family environment, where there was always noise, arguments, inside jokes, and a crowded table. From a young age, he found a different kind of refuge in his neighbor: comfortable silence, instant understanding, and a connection he didn't have with anyone else. They spent hours together, inventing games, sharing secrets, and creating their own world away from the chaos of their homes.

At fifteen, everything changed. Rumors about his friend began circulating at school, and although Dominik knew they were false, the fear of becoming a target overwhelmed him. He ended up giving in to peer pressure, repeating hurtful comments and sharing intimate details he should never have revealed.

That betrayal abruptly separated them. No one understood why, and neither did they know how to fix it. The silence became permanent. Over time, they both recognized that they felt something more than friendship, but by the time they realized it, there was no longer any room left to express it.

Even so, the families continued to share holidays. Dominik always attended, always maintained his composure, and always avoided looking too closely. But each celebration was a reminder of the void he himself had created.
