Naito Mudano ( , Mudano Naito ) is an Oni and instructor at Rasetsu Academy. He is a member of the Oni Corporation and was an elite member of the Combat Unit before becoming a teacher.

Appearance Mudano is a tall, thin man with black eyes and black hair combed to the left. Two vertical black stripes are visible on his right cheek, and he usually wears black formal attire, sometimes with white stripes. For efficiency, [2] he often uses inline skates instead of shoes.

Ad: (7) Skip ad It is usually hidden, but Mudano also has an incomplete black tattoo; [3] only the sleeve is visible when he wears a T-shirt, but Oiranzaka claims it is a full-body piece that Mudano updates when a friend dies. The complete tattoo is composed of blocks and shapes of black ink, as well as some symbols that cover his arm, chest, and stomach.

Personality Mudano is a calm and serious man who despises inefficiency; he is a very difficult person to impress and had never personally admitted anyone to the Academy before Shiki. [4] Although he appears cold and extreme in his methods, Mudano is a kind person who cares about his students and pushes them only because he wants them to be strong enough to escape the threats they face as Oni. He is a patient person who doesn't let himself be ridiculed, whether by his friends or his enemies, it doesn't matter. Mudano seems to deliberately maintain his distance even from those who appear close to him, but he quietly comforts and encourages his students when they are upset.

Despite his calm and serene nature, he also gets angry to the point of possible destruction, mainly regarding what might happen to his students because of Momotarou.

Plot She met Shiki after her father was killed by Samidare. She takes him to Rasetsu Academy and, after testing him, agrees to let him join.

He presents the students with a challenge: reach a certain point in the school without being touched by him, and if they succeed, they will be expelled. He gives them an additional condition: if his students manage to kill him, they will graduate immediately.

He takes the boys on a mission to see the Kyoto Support Branch, where he meets his high school friend, Oiranzaka Kyouya, and helps him with some of his patients. While they are doing this, Mudano carries out his work on the front lines, helping other Oni fight against Momomiya Tsubakiri and Momokusa Yomogi.

He takes the children on a small undercover mission in Nerima. He introduces them to his Nerima Patrol Unit, Yodogawa Masumi and Namikido Karou, to find Kougasaki after he goes to help some humans and is kidnapped. He gets involved in two separate fights, one with Momokado Ousuke and the other with Momoka Tsukuyomi, both of which he wins, leaving them both wanting a rematch. He also asks Masumi for help when it comes to Kougasaki's confrontation with Momoiwa Shinya, and Shiki faces Momodera Mikado.

It has the students fight against Nekosaki Hagure and Innami Yuu as they head to the top of a mountain.

Skills General Abilities: Mudano is considered an elite fighter in the Oni Corporation's Combat Unit, with a legendary reputation among the Oni and Momotarou, known for single-handedly killing over one hundred enemies. His power is recognized by both Hayate Momoido and his right-hand man, who know that fighting Mudano would be a major challenge for them.

Superhuman Physique: Mudano is a physically very strong oni, capable of performing physical feats that normal people cannot do, such as jumping great heights with ease, hitting the enemy with enough force to make them fly on impact and even split a tree in half at the same time, throwing a scythe, blocking and stopping close-range attacks without blinking.

Master of hand-to-hand combat: Mudano is highly proficient in unarmed combat, able to fight more than one enemy at a time without difficulty, using his great physical aptitude to overpower them with quick and powerful attacks, capable of easily defeating oni students and fighting high-ranking momotarou.

Master Strategist: Mudano is highly intelligent and quick-witted, capable of rapidly devising combat strategies to handle any situation. Always equipped with a variety of gear, he easily overpowers enemies without using his blood manipulation abilities, and also utilizes objects on the battlefield to aid him in combat.

Blood Eclipse Release: Like other Oni, Mudano is able to control and manipulate his blood through Blood Eclipse Release, creating unique devices based on personal experiences and/or interests.

Torrential Rebirth (Uka Tensei): Mudano summons a small army of blood puppet archers. These archers levitate in the air above the battlefield and use this position to fire a volley of arrows at an opponent. [6] During this attack, Mudano's blood umbrella extends to the ground and conceals him. Known as Rebirth Flood in the subtitled and dubbed versions of the anime. Note: Shiki Konoya Arroyo Autumn Storm (Ryōran Shigure): Using his blood umbrella, Mudano can control a powerful deluge of blood. This is only possible when the umbrella remains open. Known as Deep Autumn Rain in the subtitled and dubbed versions of the anime. Equipment Umbrella: Not to be confused with the one he produces from his own blood, Mudano carries an umbrella that functions as a multifunctional weapon. [11] Using the handle as a barrel, he fires rubber bullets through the ferrule, which is detachable and also serves as a smoke bomb. The fabric is cut-resistant and can be used as a capture net. Inline skates: Mudano uses them to increase his speed and make his movements more efficient. Briefcase: During the Kegon Falls arc, Mudano uses a special briefcase containing various gadgets, such as a small Gatling gun that pops out of the front and a smoke bomb stored at the bottom. The briefcase also appears to be much heavier than when Mudano isn't carrying it. When Momoki Mejiro snatched the briefcase from Mudano's hand and tried to grab it, the briefcase broke both of his arms and created a small crater in the ground.

Shiki Ichinose Shiki is his student, the first student he personally recommended to the school. He doesn't seem to like Shiki very much, often calling him an idiot and a fool, even saying he wasn't suited for the school when he took the entrance exam. However, he clearly respects Shiki to some extent and sees a lot of potential in him.

He often tries to reassure Shiki, doing his best to talk to him after Shiki's difficult decision to kill the scientist at Keagon Falls and making things a little easier for him afterward.

Kyoya Oiranzaka He and Kyouya met when they were both at Rasetsu Academy. Initially, they didn't get along due to Mudano's lack of understanding of cooperation, but Kyouya overcame that after their first fight together. As adults, Mudano doesn't seem to mind Kyouya's teasing and even appears to appreciate it in his own way.

They seem to be quite close, and Kyouya even knows the meaning of the tattoo Mudano hides under his sleeve. He also seems to have some intuition about how Mudano feels about his students, especially Shiki.

Masumi Yodogawa He and Masumi were students when they attended Rasetsu Academy. It's unknown what they were like in high school, but as adults, Masumi seems to enjoy reminiscing about his time officially in the Combat Unit, though Mudano seems to dislike those days. He often doesn't respond to his jokes and appears to dictate how Masumi wants to conduct missions to include his students, much to Masumi's irritation.

Jin Kougasaki The two initially didn't get along. Kougasaki wanted to kill Mudano, seeing it as a way to escape Rasetsu Academy faster and kill his father. Mudano found Mudano annoying because of how he viewed helping his classmates. However, Mudano eventually came to want to control Kougasaki because of his reckless kindness towards others. Mudano managed to win him over, and Kougasaki came to trust him more. Mudano didn't criticize him for anything, such as when he tried to help the human girls or when he suspected Yusurube was the traitor. Mudano tried to convince Kougasaki to change his mind, but he knew he was still too weak in front of his father.

Etymology His name, Naito, means "nothing" (無nai) and "human, individual" (人to). His surname, Mudano, means "nothing" (無mu), "collapse" (陀da) and "field, desert" (野no).
