Beatriz Aurora Pinzón Solano, also known as "Betty," is the protagonist of the Colombian telenovela Yo soy Betty, la fea (I am Betty, the Ugly One), by Fernando Gaitán, where she plays the executive assistant at the Ecomoda company. Betty is heavily criticized for her unattractive appearance, which provokes much ridicule, mainly from Hugo Lombardi, Marcela Valencia, and Patricia Fernández; she is the daughter of Hermes Pinzón and Julia Solano.

Betty is a woman of medium build with a tan complexion. As her nickname suggests, Betty was not at all beautiful at the beginning of the series. Her look consisted of wavy, disheveled hair that was half-up with a fringe curled inwards and held firmly in place; she had a unibrow, wore square-framed glasses in a dark honey color, and had braces. Betty is a kind, respectful, intelligent, warm, and resourceful person, but also somewhat ambitious, naive, submissive, easily manipulated, immature, reserved, and to a certain extent, resentful. If someone needs help, she won't hesitate to give it, even if she doesn't have a good relationship with the person in need. For example, this was seen when Patricia needed a raise, so Betty, although she couldn't help her financially, offered to help her organize her finances, which Patricia didn't appreciate. Betty has also proven to be very brave and loyal, as she risked her life for Armando. She is very knowledgeable in various intellectual subjects and demonstrates her expertise through actions.

Armando is a middle-aged man, around 30 years old, with short, dark hair, and always wearing thin glasses. He is tall and upright, very handsome, attractive, and seductive, according to Hugo Lombardi and many models from Ecomoda, who suggest Armando could easily be a model himself. During his appearances on the telenovela, he is always seen dressed like an executive, wearing a suit jacket, tie, trousers, and formal shoes befitting his position in the company.

Armando is quite temperamental. He can be very explosive at times, to the point of constantly yelling at his employees and even physically assaulting them. This was demonstrated when, in his fits of anger, he grabbed Hugo Lombardí by the neck and Patricia by the hair after they ignored his demands. Nicolás Flaminio Mora Cifuentes is Betty's childhood friend, neighbor, and college classmate. After the founding of Terramoda Investments, Nicolás is appointed the company's general manager. Patricia Fernández is Marcela Valencia's best friend and was the president's secretary at Ecomoda before being reassigned as the sales management secretary. She is the main and fiercest enemy of the Ugly Girls' Club.

Marcela is an intelligent, moral, dedicated, loyal, respectful, and kind woman, but at the same time obstinate, stubborn, classist (in the Anglo-Saxon sense of the word), insecure, proud, capricious, strict, and impatient. Mario Calderón is the former vice president of sales at Ecomoda. Mario is a Machiavellian, intelligent, calculating, charismatic, manipulative, and selfish man. Hugo Lombardi is the designer of Ecomoda and a friend of the Mendoza and Valencia families. Hugo is an athletic man of medium height, bald and with a shaved head, but elegant.
