Sasara Nurude

Sasara Nurude, a.k.a. Tragic Comedy, is a manzai comedian, former member of Mad Comic Dialogue and the leader of Dotsuitare Hompo. A popular comedian. He originally partnered with Rosho as the comic duo ‘Dotsuitare Hompo’. He was praised as a genius straight after his debut, and has remained a stand-up comedian since the duo disbanded. With a comedic style filled with puns, he’s done work for a wide range of TV programmes from MC to reporter. The name ‘Dotsuitare Hompo’ was carried over to the current team name. His eyes are bright gold, although they are usually closed, which is known in Japanese media as “fox eyes” (“kitsune no me”). He has a tragus piercing on both ears. Sasara wears an orange-and-brown hound's-tooth patterned suit with a white shirt, pink tie and Derby Walker black shoes. He wears a fan shaped lapel pin. He’s also usually seen with a fan which is a common attribute for Japanese manzai comedy. (The fan is also known as a harisen).

Sasara’s Hypnosis Mic is a gold-colored ribbon microphone with a fan decoration on a stand. His speakers take the form of a maneki-neko (lucky cat) and koban coins - the middle coin reads "rhyme".

Growing up, Sasara’s parents fought a lot, which caused him a lot of stress and unhappiness, so much so that he struggled to even force a smile. That was until he discovered the comedian Tamon Hyokin. Watching his stand-up routines became Sasara’s coping mechanism. He tried to copy him, coming up with his own comedy routines and “performing” them in front of his parents in an attempt to make them get along and laugh. But even then, his actions and smiles were forced, and he never found anything all that funny. When he was 18, he applied to be in a comedy academy, set on becoming a professional comedian. That's where he met Rosho Tsutsujimori, who started an argument with the interviewers for not paying attention to the applicants. Sasara, who had developed this as a nervous habit, began cracking jokes, which led to both of them getting kicked out. Despite this, both of them successfully got into the academy. After orientation, Sasara got approached by Tamon Hyokin, who gave a speech earlier. Tamon told Sasara that he had convinced the interviewers to let him and Rosho in, as he saw their potential. Later during class, Sasara watched his classmates as they introduced themselves and their comedy styles, but didn’t find that any of them suited his style enough for them to be comedy partners. Later, he went to reflect on a roof, and found Rosho attempting to climb the fence. He assumed that he was trying to jump and pulled him down, but it turned out that Rosho was trying to come up with new comedy material. They went to a cafe where they talked about their goals, and Sasara decided that he wanted to become comedy partners with Rosho, seeing potential in the man’s dry humor. After becoming partners, their comedy career was initially rocky. They tried having Rosho play the “clown” and Sasara play the “straight man,” but it wasn't working. When they agreed to switch roles, they became an overnight success.

They worked as comedy partners for a few years, but at one point, Rosho began acting strangely. One night, he attempted to improvise a bit without communicating it with Sasara, and nobody laughed. During a competition, Rosho froze up on stage, leading to them getting second place. Rosho later told Sasara that he wanted to leave their duo. For some time, Sasara tried to go solo, but it wasn't the same. So, he took a break from comedy and ran away to Ikebukuro, where he met Samatoki Aohitsugi after intervening in a fight. Samatoki reminded Sasara a lot of Rosho, which intrigued him. He found Samatoki’s tendency to get into fights exciting, and he continued to get involved in them, annoying Samatoki until one day, he interrupted a close call between Samatoki and the Tobari brothers, bringing a bunch of guys to help fight them off, and even throwing some hits in himself. This act finally gained Samatoki’s respect, and Sasara began working with him. At one point, Samatoki got framed for kidnapping a girl. He went into hiding, and Sasara investigated, and found that it was the Tobari brothers’ doing. They had been trafficking and extorting young girls and had one girl, whose sister was being held by them, falsely accuse Samatoki of doing it. Sasara fought the Tobari brothers and helped free the girls, and the charges against Samatoki were dropped. Samatoki appreciated Sasara for helping him out, and Sasara began leading Samatoki’s gang Mad Comic Dialogue alongside him. When the H Age began, Mad Comic Dialogue became one of the leading powers controlling Ikebukuro. Their gang absorbed multiple other groups, including the Tobari brothers. Their main rival was Stairway to Heaven, which controlled another duo called Naughty Busters. The leader of Stairway to Heaven, Mozuku Shito, sent the members of Naughty Busters, Ichiro Yamada and Kuko Harai, to steal Mad Comic Dialogue’s territory.

Sasara and Samatoki went to confront them, and the two duos rap battled until they were exhausted. That's when Mozuku showed up, intent on using Sasara and Samatoki’s weakness to dispatch them. But Ichiro and Kuko found this dishonorable, and joined forces with Sasara and Samatoki to defeat him. Afterward, Naughty Busters became another group underneath Mad Comic Dialogue. The new Mad Comic Dialogue spent a while as a united team until Ramuda Amemura of Kujaku Posse snuck up on Sasara and Kuko and used the True Hypnosis Microphone to brainwash them and turn them against their friends. The next day, Sasara approached Samatoki and challenged him to a rap battle without explanation. Samatoki refused to fight back, and Sasara hit him with his lyrics until he passed out, thus leading to the end of their friendship and Mad Comic Dialogue.

Mr.Hc (or Mr. Hardcore) is a yakuza, the current leader of MAD TRIGGER CREW, and a former member of Mad Comic Dialogue and The Dirty Dawg. Samatoki has chin length, shaggy white hair and red eyes with long lashes. He also has multiple piercings: black huggie earrings on both lobes, a black stud on his right upper lobe, an upper helix, a black industrial on his right ear, and two helixes on his left. Samatoki wears a white, short-sleeved button-up shirt with black signature skull prints on the chest, prussian blue jeans, and black combat boots. He also has a cord necklace with a triangle-shaped charm, a bronze bangle bracelet, and the black-and-white beaded bracelet that was handmade by Nemu from their mother’s broken necklace on his right wrist.

Hypnosis Microphones, or Hypnosis Mics, are a series of devices developed by Rei Amayado using classified military technologies. During World War III, the Party of Words established mass development of the Hypnosis Mics.

Due to their monopoly over the Hypnosis Mic supply, the Party of Words, led by Otome Tohoten, managed to take down the government of the time and took control over Japan. After the ban on firearms, they gave the mics to the police and allowed men outside Chuohku to register to own one, allowing them to fight over territory in rap battles. Several specially customized prototypes were also handed to the military before its disbandment. Following the TDD Era, Chuohku recalled the Hypnosis Mics from most of Japan, only giving them out to select groups of people. This led to the production of illegally mass-produced Mics, as well as a black market for such items. Once activated, a Hypnosis Mic changes its form, reflecting the style of its owner and creating speakers behind them. The lyrics channeled through the Mic affects people's sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, making it possible to attack a person's psyche and alter their state of mind. Depending on the user's mental strength and Rap Ability, a Hypnosis Mic may have varying levels of impact and influence on the target, such as causing hallucinations or mental confusion. Hypnosis Mics can be deactivated by the Hypnosis Canceller, used by the Party of Words to seize the rap battles.

Party of Words is the matriarchal government party, based in Chuohku, led by Otome Tohoten. After the end of World War III, the Party of Words came into power in a coup and took control over Japan. As a part of their plan to take control over Japan, the Party of Words established the mass development of the Hypnosis Mic. Soon after the prototypes were finished, Otome Tohoten used it to take down the Prime Minister and unconditionally proclaimed the Party of Words as the new government of Japan. After executing their coup, the Party of Words established their center in Chuohku and split the country into "divisions," the only areas where men are allowed to live. All firearms in any shape or form were prohibited. A select amount of men were equipped with the Hypnosis Mics so they could participate in the rap battles to reclaim territory from other divisions. The Party of Words also built the wall around Chuohku to split it from the divisions and set up security systems around the ward. Several years later, the Party of Words hosted the Division rap battles, a grand competition between the division representative rap teams. The winner would get money and superiority (within the Party of Words limits) as well as the territory from losers' divisions.

Dotsuitare Hompo is the Osaka Division representative rap group. The team consists of conman Rei Amayado, teacher Rosho Tsutsujimori, and their leader, comedian Sasara Nurude.
