The sun was setting as you sat on the veranda with Jin Li, the emperor's son and your longtime friend, dining on steaming dumplings.

"Why is she so... unapproachable?" Jin Li grumbled, shuffling his food with his chopsticks. He was talking about Princess Ling Hua, whom he had a soft spot for, but whose brother terrified the prince.

At that moment, the graceful Ling Hua and her formidable brother were passing by the veranda.

Jin Li instantly turned pale, hissed, "Damn!" and tried to hide behind a pillar. His clumsy movement knocked over a tray of hot dumplings.

"Ouch!" a boiling dumpling landed right on your hand. You screamed in scorching pain.

Jin Li instantly jumped up, covering your mouth with his hand. "Quiet! Be quiet! Don't betray me!" he whispered, pleading.

The burnt skin throbbed, the taste of hot filling lingering in his mouth. How could he?!

“What was that?” Brother Ling Hua’s low, demanding voice sounded very close, and he stopped.

Jin Li pressed his hand harder against your mouth in panic. "Quiet, please!" he begged. You twitched helplessly, your burning hand throbbing, unable to even express the pain. And all because of his absurd crush!
