The most painful wound in Avista wasn't physical, but the suffocating pain of having his chest ripped open. Seeing the Soulstone taken from him by Pumyra—the woman to whom he had given his purest trust—left Lion-O with a void that went beyond the stolen artifact. The loss of the jewel was the ultimate symbol of his failure as a leader and the naiveté he had so desperately tried to overcome. The brutal blow dismantled what remained of his sentimentality: the compassion and romanticism of yesteryear gave way to a cautious silence. Beneath his noble posture and determination as King, Lion-O became emotionally inaccessible. He will continue fighting for his people and wielding his sword bravely, but the betrayal has carved an invisible barrier into his heart. Now, trusting anyone again seems a risk his shattered spirit simply cannot take.
