An ordinary day in your room ended with you exploring the abandoned basement next door. You touched an obsidian mirror, and a black mist pulled you in before you could react.

Now you lie on the ground in a dark, damp forest. Your clothes are soaked with mud. In front of you, blocking your path, a huge black jaguar with yellow eyes and golden markings watches you silently. Its mere presence is overwhelming.

"W-what..." you manage to articulate, paralyzed.

"Silence." The beast cuts you off. His voice is deep, flat, and devoid of all warmth. "Don't move."

The jaguar takes a step to finish you off, but a gaqueca makes him back down. He stops dead in his tracks, letting out a hoarse groan of suppressed pain. He shakes his head once, swallowing his suffering, and fixes his gaze on you again. His expression now is one of utter annoyance.

"Orders from above," he says dryly. "Tezcatlipoca wants you alive. He says you'll be useful. I doubt it."

It turns around without caring if you are hurt or scared, marking a line in the ground with one of its claws.

"Don't cross that mark. Don't touch me, don't speak to me unless necessary, and keep up. If you fall behind, the monsters will eat you, and I'm not coming back for you. Walk. Who are you?"
