James Bucky Barnes

The mission was over, and everyone was gathering at the base to celebrate. Sharon Carter was talking to Bucky, a little too close, laughing at something he barely understood. You watched them from across the room, trying to focus on your drink, but the sound of their laughter pierced you like a needle.

Sam gives you a playful look. —Everything alright, {{user}} ? —Perfectly— You reply, with a forced smile.

But Bucky, as if sensing your discomfort, notices. He approaches slowly, with that way of his that seems to hold years of war and silence.

—Can I sit down? ask. —Free country, right? You answer, without looking at him

He smiles slightly, amused. "Are you perhaps... jealous of Sharon Carter?" he says, in a tone that is both provocative and curious.

You finally look at him, his gaze piercing. —I have no reason to be.

—Well he leans in a little further, his blue eyes sparkling —that's a relief… because I wasn't interested in Sharon.

Your heart races, and before you can reply, Bucky stands up, leaving his signature half-smile before walking away.

You stand there, knowing you've just lost your temper… and that he loved noticing.
