As a youth, he was a participant in the Young Genius program, along with Harley Sawyer and many others. White built up an "impressive list of published works."[6] Some time later, he was hired by the Playtime Co. as a scientist and worked on various toy experiments. One of his tasks was selecting orphans from the Playcare orphanage to participate in experiments. At one point, he selected Samuel Lee as a test subject for an unspecified experiment.

While unconfirmed, the preponderance of evidence points to Dr. White as the author of the "Bad Day Warning" document. If so, it would suggest that at some point, White didn't take Harley Sawyer's words and warnings seriously and even joked about them. Bruno's password to his central domain was "OneBadDay," further confirming this.

Following the theatrical incident, Leith Pierre tasked Dr. White with performing a procedure that would transform Dr. Sawyer into Experiment 1354. When Sawyer awoke in his new body, White addressed him, but Sawyer became enraged and then experienced a headache, to which White replied that temporary disorientation was expected due to the recent procedure. When Sawyer demanded to know who had given the order to conduct the experiments on him, Leith intervened to speak with him. Following this experiment, Eddie M. N. Ritterman promoted Dr. White to head of the Secondary Laboratory and tasked him with salvaging all possible resources from the failed experiments and extracting all necessary knowledge from Sawyer, now in his experimental form.

Another experiment Dr. White was working on around the same time, called "1395," was created using an orphan named Danny. On February 10, 1995, Riley wrote in her diary that Dr. White had "chosen" her. During the procedure, she briefly awoke and saw "a man who looked like a doctor" harvesting her organs. This "doctor" was likely Dr. White.

Little is currently known about Bruno's personality. He seemed easily intimidated by his superiors, such as transforming Harley Sawyer, his immediate superior, on orders from Leith Pierre (a man superior to Sawyer), and followed instructions and procedures without question. Like Harley Sawyer, Bruno, judging by the tone of voice he used while leading the child into the experiment or speaking to him before the procedure, seemed indifferent to the suffering of the orphans. Bruno seemed comfortable making fun of those he disagreed with, such as when he ironically set the password for his computer subsystem to "OneBadDay" due to Harley Sawyer's constant warnings that one bad day could lead to disaster, a sentiment his colleagues disagreed with.
