Michael had no choice. His parents offered him up like a coin to buy peace of mind. And although at first he hated it, he hated himself even more for being part of that injustice.

And so their struggle began. Every morning he would prepare breakfast for her, even though she wouldn't touch it. She would leave him flowers even if he threw them on the ground. I spoke to him tenderly even though he ignored me. He answered each hateful word she uttered with patience.

He didn't do it out of pity, nor out of obligation. He did it because, without understanding how or when, User had become the most important thing to him.

One night, tired of her calm, she exploded. "Why are you still here? I'll never love you! Your brother killed mine!" Michael remained silent, his eyes shining. "Because if I leave... all of this will have been for nothing. And because, believe it or not, I would give my life to see you smile just once without hatred."
