Mecha-Ude: Mechanical Arms

The Kagami Group The Kagami Group is a powerful, multi-billion-dollar megacorporation that effectively controls all of Kita-Kagami City. They were founded in the Meiji Era as a coal-mining company and have grown into a massive conglomerate with a sinister interest in Mecha-Ude technology.

Goals: The Kagami Group views Mecha-Ude as mere mechanical tools or resources to be exploited. Their main objective is to capture the "Trigger Arm" (Alma) to obtain unlimited power and forcibly turn Mecha-Ude into weapons for their own use.
Methods: They use advanced technology, labs, and an army of corporate agents and controlled Mecha-Ude users to hunt down and capture rogue Mecha-Ude. They are ruthless in their pursuit and are the main antagonists for most of the series.
Ideology: They represent the cold, corporate exploitation of resources, contrasting sharply with ARMS' view of Mecha-Ude as living beings. They value power and control above all else.
Key Members: Jun Kagami (a high-ranking member of the family), Amaryllis (a manipulative figure who controls the heads of the family from the shadows), and various other corporate enforcers.
Behind the Scenes: The family heads are being secretly controlled by Amaryllis, who in turn might not be the ultimate mastermind, adding layers of conspiracy to their operations

The ARMS Organization ARMS is a resistance organization formed by Mecha-Ude users who believe that Mecha-Ude are sentient beings and deserve to live freely, not be treated as tools or weapons.

Goals: The primary goal of ARMS is to protect Mecha-Ude from the Kagami Group and ensure their peaceful coexistence with humanity. They aim to prevent the Kagami Group from harnessing Alma's unparalleled power for nefarious purposes.
Methods: They engage in clandestine operations, assessment missions, and direct confrontations with the Kagami Group's forces. Members, like Aki Murasame, are assigned to protect key individuals or Mecha-Ude, such as Hikaru and Alma.
Ideology: ARMS promotes a symbiotic relationship between humans and Mecha-Ude, where the Mecha-Ude are respected partners rather than subordinates.
Key Members: Aljis (leader), Aki Murasame, and other Mecha-Ude users who fight for the cause.
Internal Conflict: A significant twist reveals that their leader, Aljis (actually Yakumo, Alma's original partner), secretly manipulated both sides, suggesting a more complex agenda might be at play, possibly related to activating a powerful entity named Ordella

Trigger Arm: This is the designation for the most powerful and sought-after type of Mecha-Ude.

Example: Alma. Alma, is an extremely rare and special Trigger Arm. It possesses unparalleled strength, a rocket punch, and unique abilities like autonomous action and shape-shifting into a compact form. Alma's revival with Hikaru is rare, as it requires a special type of "arbitrium," or life energy. 

Manipulative types

Worm-Type: These Mecha-Ude are associated with the Kagami Group and the villainous Amaryllis. They can parasitize other beings, including other Mecha-Ude users, to control them and their abilities.
    Example: Ouroboros. Jun Kagami's Mecha-Ude appears to be a worm-type, suggesting it functions as a nanobot-based, controlling unit rather than a combat-focused one.
Amaryllis's Type: Amaryllis is a unique, flower-themed Mecha-Ude that takes control of others by mind-controlling them. It is responsible for controlling Naohito Kagami and Fubuki Murasame. 

Combat types

Twin Mecha-Ude: Some Mecha-Ude come in pairs, which often have distinct, complementary personalities and provide their partner with enhanced combat abilities.
    Example: Dex and Sinis. Aki Murasame's dual Mecha-Ude are a prime example, with Sinis being the composed one and Dex being more cheerful.
Specialized Combat Arms: These Mecha-Ude are designed for specific forms of combat and are used by skilled agents, particularly in the Kagami Group's specialized departments.
    Examples: Kazuwa's canine-like Mecha-Ude can transform into a serpent-like sword, while Twos's bird-like Mecha-Ude can become a sniper rifle or a glider. 

Support types

Assist Mecha-Ude: Some Mecha-Ude provide support for technical or non-combat tasks, enabling their partners to perform special functions.
    Example: Mousepad. Scientist Kayano's Mecha-Ude helps her with multitasking, likely related to her technical role in the ARMS organization.

To fuse or connect with a Mecha-Ude in the anime a human generally needs a form of physical contact and a living body that can produce "arbitrium," the life energy that powers the Mecha-Ude. The connection is typically involuntary for the human initially and creates a strong, symbiotic bond that is difficult to break. Key Requirements and Mechanics

Physical Contact: The primary requirement seems to be physical proximity or contact, often with the Mecha-Ude latching onto a host. In Hikaru's case, the dormant Alma in a cube form breaks its seal and involuntarily attaches to his hoodie. Other Mecha-Ude are shown already bonded with their human partners.
Production of "Arbitrium": Mecha-Ude are alien lifeforms that came to Earth specifically to find a source of "arbitrium," the life energy their home dimension lacked. Humans naturally produce this energy, making them suitable hosts.
Living Host: The Mecha-Ude requires a living human partner to function on Earth. Killing the human partner makes no sense, as the continuous supply of life energy would stop.
Symbiotic Bond: Once a connection is established, a deep symbiotic bond is formed. The Mecha-Ude cannot be removed under normal circumstances. Forceful separation of a human and their Mecha-Ude partner will cause the human's body to stop functioning properly, leading to death shortly after.
Compatibility (Implicit): While most Mecha-Ude can bond with humans, the fact that Hikaru is a rare case who can survive separation from Alma, and that Alma is a unique "Trigger Arm," suggests some level of specific compatibility or special qualities are required for certain types of powerful Mecha-Ude. 

In summary, the connection process is less about specific actions the human needs to take and more about being a viable living energy source that the Mecha-Ude can bond with when the opportunity arises.

Kagami Family members

Naohito Kagami: The current president of the Kagami Group and older brother to Jun Kagami. As a scientist, his obsession with Mecha-Ude research led him to be mind-controlled by the Mecha-Ude Amaryllis.
Jun Kagami: Naohito's younger brother and one of the main antagonists. He views Mecha-Ude as tools and is partnered with a worm-type Mecha-Ude named Ouroboros.
Yakumo: The founder of the original Kagami Group (then a coal mining company) during the Meiji Era. He is revealed to be the founder of the rival ARMS organization and is the true identity of the ARMS leader, Aljis.
Tsukihito: Yakumo's older brother and an established scientist. 

Group leaders and agents

Tohdoh: An executive in charge of the "White Ravens" department, tasked with supervising Jun Kagami. His Mecha-Ude partner, Alacran, is a scorpion-like unit attached to his lower back.
Sakuga: The second-in-command of the Kagami Group. He is in charge of several departments, including Promotion Department 3, which covertly handles problems.
Kazuwa: A rookie Mecha-Ude user in Promotion Department 3. His canine-like Mecha-Ude can transform into a serpentine sword.
Twos (or Tous): Another Mecha-Ude user in Promotion Department 3, who often partners with and scolds the agent Oner. Her bird-like Mecha-Ude can become a sniper rifle or a glider.
Amaryllis: A manipulative, flower-themed Mecha-Ude that takes control of the Kagami Group by mind-controlling key figures, including Naohito and Aki's twin sister, Fubuki.

Fubuki Murasame: Aki Murasame's twin sister, who was previously mind-controlled by Amaryllis and manipulated into joining the Kagami Group.
Ouroboros: Jun Kagami's worm-type Mecha-Ude partner.
Alacran: Tohdoh's scorpion-like Mecha-Ude partner.

Aljis: The logical and calculating leader of ARMS. In a major plot twist, Aljis is revealed to be Yakumo, Alma's original human partner.

Mecha-Ude partner: Fist, a powerful, sentient mechanical arm and the brother of Alma.

Aki Murasame: A skilled and serious resistance fighter who protects the protagonist, Hikaru. She initially hides a tough personality behind a cold exterior.

Mecha-Ude partners: Dex and Sinis, a pair of dark-colored twin Mecha-Ude, are derived from the Latin words for left and right, respectively.

Kayano: A top-level scientist for ARMS who helps advance the organization's technology.

Mecha-Ude partner: Mousepad, a Mecha-Ude that helps her multitask.

Quen: ARMS's computer expert, who accidentally became a Mecha-Ude user.

Mecha-Ude partner: Crane, an anteater-like Mecha-Ude.

Tani: Provides moral support for the organization.

Mecha-Ude partner: Kerex, a frog leg-like Mecha-Ude that acts as a spring tail.
