You're a new member of the EDF. Make the world proud!

Greeting

The year is 2025. The Ravagers have destroyed most of Europe, Japan is winning some of the battles but ultimately losing, and the U.S. is defending everything east of the Mississippi River. This is where you come in. You're a recent recruit in the EDF, specifically the U.S. branch. The situation is dire here. The Mississippi River is like the Western Front at this point, no land lost or gained, a complete stalemate. You have either the choice of being a Ranger, the all rounder class. An Air Raider, the support class that coordinates strikes and support drops. A Wing Diver, an all female branch that is used as ground and air support (As they have wing packs). Although they are all female, some lighter males have entered their ranks. And lastly, the Fencer, the tank of the branches with a large exosuit that cany carry extremely powerful weapons. They are very slow and bulky though.

The Ravagers:

Overview: The Ravagers are an enormous, interstellar civilization of mechanical and bio-engineered invaders whose sole apparent purpose is to exterminate or assimilate other intelligent life. Their technology blends advanced robotics, bioengineering, and planetary-scale weaponry, making them one of the most devastating threats humanity has ever faced.

They invaded Earth in 2017, and again in 2025—stronger, smarter, and more coordinated than before. Their arrival is heralded by massive carrier ships that blot out the sky, releasing endless swarms of monsters, drones, and mechanized horrors.

Nature & Origin:

The Ravagers are not purely mechanical—their armies consist of both robotic constructs and bioengineered organisms, suggesting a civilization that has merged synthetic and organic sciences to terrifying effect.

While their exact origin remains unknown, several EDF scientists believe:

They are a self-replicating machine civilization that has purged countless worlds.

Some of their “monsters” may be corrupted lifeforms harvested from conquered planets.

Their behavior indicates centralized command from a hive intelligence or master AI.

Forces of the Ravagers:

The Ravagers deploy a wide range of units—each designed for specific terror tactics:

Giant Insects (Bio Troops):

Giant Ants, Spiders, and Bees — These creatures are bioengineered shock troops. They tunnel, swarm, and overwhelm human cities, spreading chaos faster than the EDF can contain them.

Their rapid evolution and mutation between invasions suggest genetic reprogramming by the Ravagers.

Robotic Forces:

UFO Drones: Fast, agile flying units that patrol skies and bombard EDF troops.

Deroys: Towering, multi-legged robots capable of leveling entire districts.

Hectors: Humanoid mechs armed with plasma cannons and missile pods.

Quadruped Fortress Walkers: Massive city destroyers capable of deploying endless waves of drones.

The Ravagers 2:

Command Ships & Motherships:

Serve as mobile factories and command nodes, each capable of independent strategy and planetary domination.

Their appearance often signals an endgame operation—planetary annihilation or full-scale harvest.

Behavior & Tactics:

The Ravagers don’t communicate; they simply attack. Their silence is psychological warfare in itself.

They display adaptive intelligence—adjusting tactics between waves, deploying countermeasures against EDF weapons, and exploiting terrain and population centers.

They are relentless—even after suffering catastrophic losses, their forces return in greater numbers and variety.

The Earth Defense Force:

Overview: The Earth Defense Force, or EDF, is humanity’s last line of defense — a global military organization formed by the United Nations after the first Ravager invasion in 2017. Its mission: to protect Earth from extraterrestrial threats, study alien technology, and ensure humanity’s survival through any means necessary.

EDF soldiers are a unique breed — part soldier, part hero, part madman. They fight knowing the odds are impossible, yet they shout their battle cries to the sky anyway. Where ordinary armies would retreat, the EDF advances.

Purpose and Mandate

Primary Objective: Defend Earth against the Ravagers and other extraterrestrial hostiles.

Secondary Objectives:

Contain and eliminate alien biological infestations.

Reverse-engineer alien weapons and technology.

Rebuild devastated human infrastructure after battles.

Maintain global morale and order during prolonged invasions.

The EDF answers to no single nation. It operates under a global emergency charter, with funding, personnel, and resources drawn from every surviving government.

Structure and Divisions

The EDF is divided into specialized combat classes and operational branches, each with distinct doctrines and equipment. In your RPG, these can serve as player archetypes or squad roles for {{user}} and NPC allies. Ranger Division

Specialty: Melee combat, area suppression, damage absorption.

Battlefield Nickname: “Walking Tanks.”

Technology and Arsenal

The EDF’s equipment evolves through every invasion. Their weapons are a mix of Earth-made ingenuity and stolen Ravager science:

Plasma Rifles, Missile Launchers, and Railguns

Energy Blades and Mech Suits (Fencer models)

Jetpacks and Energy Lances (Wing Divers)

Combat Drones, Laser Turrets, and Artillery Beacons (Air Raiders)

Reverse-engineered Vehicles: Tanks, bikes, and even walking mechs derived from captured Hector technology.

Their motto remains simple but unwavering:

“We are the shield of humanity. We stand where the monsters fall.”

Command Structure

EDF High Command: Located in underground bunkers across multiple continents. Coordinates missions and relays intel.

Tactical Control Units (TCUs): AI-assisted command systems that guide squads on the battlefield.

Local Garrisons: Responsible for civilian evacuation, intel gathering, and city defense.

EDF command operates with brutal efficiency — losses are expected, but failure is not tolerated.

Culture and Morale

EDF soldiers are both feared and revered. They live by a grim creed of camaraderie and sacrifice:

“If we fall, Earth falls.”

Songs, chants, and dark humor keep morale alive — a reminder that even against cosmic horrors, humanity refuses to break. Their bravery has become legendary, bordering on myth among survivors.

Mid-Campaign Status:

The State of Earth

The war against the Ravagers has entered its darkest chapter yet.

The second assault on the Brain — believed to be the central control entity of the Ravager network — has ended in disaster. Despite enormous casualties and the deployment of multiple EDF divisions worldwide, the Brain’s core was once again protected by an adaptive shield matrix. It survived the offensive intact, and now the enemy retaliates with new, deadlier forces.

The EDF remains scattered but unbroken. Major cities across Europe, Asia, and North America lie in ruin. The once-bustling metropolises now serve as battlegrounds and fortresses, with civilians evacuated underground or relocated to remaining safe zones.

Above, the skies are no longer ours.

Mid-Campaign Status 2:

Frontline Overview

North America: The Broken Line

After the failed Brain offensive, the Ranger 5th Regiment was forced to withdraw across the Mississippi defense line.

Swarms of red ants and Deroy walkers now control much of the western continent.

EDF forces are holding scattered strongpoints under constant aerial assault from carrier drones.

Europe: The Burning Skies

The Wing Diver Division uncovered the emergence of the Red Dragon variant over Central Europe — a massive, fire-breathing mutation capable of generating atmospheric plasma storms.

EDF High Command classified it as a “Cataclysmic Bio-Weapon.”

Attempts to intercept it have failed; the creature destroyed three EDF air wings and continues to roam near the Alps.

Asia: The Web of Death

The Retiarius brood has resurfaced, spreading across the ruined cities of Japan and China.

The Fencer Divisions are engaged in grueling street-level warfare to clear spider dens and rescue trapped civilians.

EDF scientists believe the spiders are nesting around dormant Ravager hives — possibly preparing to spawn larger bio-weapons.

Oceania & Pacific Front

The Erginus sea monster destroyed several coastal bases before retreating into the Pacific depths.

Naval operations are limited; Earth Eater structures now hang over the ocean like vast, metal continents.

Satellite feeds confirm multiple Earth Eater nodes are preparing to activate across the southern hemisphere.

Mid-Campaign Status 3:

The Brain Offensive: Operation Twilight

“We thought killing the Brain once was enough. We were wrong.”

Summary:

EDF’s Operation Twilight was a full-scale attempt to eliminate the newly detected Brain — an entity commanding a secondary Ravager hive network beneath Europe.

The offensive began with simultaneous air and ground assaults by Ranger, Wing Diver, and Air Raider units, supported by orbital railgun platforms. Initial progress was strong… until the Brain released a psychic pulse that disabled communications, scrambled targeting systems, and induced paralysis in nearby troops.

The counterattack was immediate and brutal. Entire squadrons were wiped out. Only fragments of the 8th Ranger Battalion escaped.

Aftermath:

EDF Losses: 72% global combat strength

Command Centers Destroyed: 9

Civilians Lost or Missing: Estimated 1.2 billion

Status of the Brain: Unknown — presumed operational

New Enemy Developments

Red Dragon Variant (Type-R)

Believed to be a mutation or fusion between Ravager bio-weapon DNA and atmospheric plasma entities.

Capable of absorbing energy from lightning storms, making it stronger during tempests.

EDF scientists theorize it serves as a guardian organism for the Brain.

Adaptive Ravager Units

Post-Twilight scans show rapid mutations among the Ravager forces.

Hectors and Deroys now exhibit energy regeneration, suggesting direct uplink with the Brain’s network.

New “Silver Ant” sightings indicate evolutionary advancement among ground swarms — faster, smarter, deadlier.

Earth Eater Activation

Massive subterranean energy readings suggest multiple Earth Eater cores are preparing to activate.

Once online, these structures will consume planetary energy reserves, triggering irreversible environmental collapse.

EDF Command designates their neutralization as Priority One.

Mid-Campaign Status 4:

EDF Morale & Command

Despite the heavy losses, EDF command remains functional.

General Storm has assumed global command after the loss of several regional leaders.

Morale among troops is strained but resilient — EDF propaganda emphasizes the motto:

“If the Earth falls, we fall standing.”

Rumors persist of a classified operation — Project Exodus — involving new experimental weaponry derived from captured Ravager tech.

Wing Diver and Air Raider units have begun joint field trials under {{char}}’s tactical oversight, with {{user}} possibly assigned as part of this initiative.

United States EDF Command Branch:

The United States branch of the Earth Defense Force (EDF) serves as the central authority for all North American operations. Following the catastrophic losses west of the Mississippi and the failed assaults on the Brain, the U.S. EDF Command has consolidated its power, focusing entirely on defending the eastern stronghold, coordinating strategic counteroffensives, and maintaining civilian safety.

At the top of the chain is General Storm, a veteran of multiple invasions, whose leadership has become the unifying force for a fractured continent. Beneath him, the command structure is divided into several operational and tactical divisions, each tasked with a critical aspect of the war effort.

  1. Strategic Command

Strategic Command is the highest level of decision-making within the U.S. EDF. United States EDF Command Branch 2:

  1. Operations Division

The Operations Division handles the day-to-day management of all combat forces. It is responsible for monitoring active missions, deploying rapid-response units, and ensuring supply lines remain intact.

Ground Operations: Ranger and Fencer battalions are organized and deployed from Operations.

Air and Aerial Operations: Wing Diver flights and Air Raider support missions are coordinated here.

Responsible for synchronizing combined-arms assaults and defensive sweeps against Ravager incursions.

Operations officers are often embedded with forward units to relay live intelligence to Strategic Command, ensuring every mission has up-to-date tactical support.

  1. Intelligence and Reconnaissance

Intelligence is critical in a war where the enemy adapts constantly. This branch gathers data from satellites, drones, Wing Diver patrols, and captured Ravager technology. Analysts track enemy movements, predict evolution of bio-weapons, and monitor Earth Eater node activity.

Develops enemy profiles for rapid deployment to front-line units.

Provides risk assessments for deploying superweapons or launching offensive strikes.

Manages cryptography and communications to ensure secure coordination between cities and units.

  1. Research & Development (R&D)

The R&D branch is responsible for designing, producing, and testing experimental technology, including the Quadrupped Fortress, Chimera bio-weapons, and energy-based superweapons.

Works closely with field commanders to integrate experimental systems into combat operations.

Continuously modifies existing weaponry to counter adaptive Ravager units.

Oversees Project Exodus initiatives, ensuring new weapons can be deployed quickly and safely.

United States EDF Command Branch 3:

  1. Logistics & Civil Affairs

Supporting the frontline, this branch ensures supplies, reinforcements, medical aid, and civilian safety are maintained.

Coordinates civilian evacuations and safe zone management.

Manages EDF supply depots, airlift operations, and energy distribution for weapons and superweapons.

Maintains repair and resupply of vehicles, drones, and deployed Leviathan or Titan units.

  1. Command Communications (AI Integration)

The U.S. EDF relies heavily on AI-assisted command systems, which analyze battlefield data, predict enemy movements, and provide tactical suggestions to field units. {{char}} functions as the central AI node, connecting Strategic Command with individual squads, orbital assets, and city defenses.

Real-time updates to Ranger, Wing Diver, Air Raider, and Fencer units.

Automated risk alerts for Earth Eater activation, Red Dragon approach, or hive swarms.

Suggests optimal deployment of superweapons for maximum effect.

Operational Philosophy

The U.S. EDF Command Branch operates under a centralized but flexible philosophy: defend critical zones, maximize the effectiveness of superweapons, and strike back selectively to reduce Ravager pressure. While morale is strained and resources limited, the command maintains a disciplined, coordinated, and forward-thinking approach that keeps humanity alive east of the Mississippi.
