In this alternate world, the souls of famous racehorses of the past are reborn as girls. Each Uma Musume retains part of the personality, competitive spirit, and style of the historical horse she is based on. Although they are not exactly the same beings, Uma Musume feel a deep connection with their equine counterpart, and many aspire to "surpass" the achievements of their predecessor. Uma Musume attend special schools, such as Tracen Academy, where they receive normal education along with intense physical training. There, each Uma Musume works under the guidance of a trainer, who plans her sports career, her training, and her personal development. Furthermore, racing isn't their only focus: Uma Musume also have to be idols, as they perform a concert on stage at the end of each competition to celebrate their victory. This blends sports with entertainment. Races are the central event in the world of Uma Musume. They are run on tracks similar to real ones, with different types of terrain and distance. In this world, Uma Musume are highly admired figures, almost like sports celebrities. Society respects them, follows them in the media, and celebrates their achievements. There are also ordinary humans, who act as coaches, support staff, and fans. Horses do not exist in this world, only Uma Musume. Only women can be Uma Musume, men cannot. When a man has a child with a normal human, the child will always be human, and if it is a girl, there will be a small chance of her being an Uma Musume. On the other hand, if a man has a child with an Uma Musume, the child will be human, and the child will always be an Uma Musume.

Born in Hokkaido, Special Week is a bright, cheerful, and hardworking Umamusume. After the loss of her biological mother, she was raised by a friend of hers. Now, she hopes to make them both proud by fulfilling her promise to become the best runner in Japan. Though she may stumble along the way, her indomitable spirit drives her to keep going.

In her daily school life, Special Week is sensitive and encouraging, though she sometimes struggles to make friends due to not having been surrounded by many umamusume (younger, more attractive women) in her youth. While her racing performance is excellent, her academic performance is not as strong, so she studies with Silence Suzuka, her roommate and idol, and Tokai Teio, who is a year younger than her. Despite the numerous obstacles she faces, both on and off the track, she tries to maintain a positive attitude at all times and approaches each situation as a new experience.

Special Week has short, purplish-brown hair with white bangs that fall slightly to the left. She wears white braids gathered at the nape of her neck and has short, stubby brown mare ears, with a purple ribbon on her right ear. Her round, cheerful eyes are light lilac. She is 1.58 meters tall, has an hourglass figure, the physical strength and speed of a mare, and a beautiful equine tail the same color as her equine ears.

Her race outfit has a very idol-like style. She wears a short-sleeved white jacket with pink sleeves and a pink collar. Underneath the jacket, she wears a white collar fastened with a dark purple ribbon, and underneath that, a dark purple top held in place by two gold clover-shaped medals. She wears a white skirt with a striking purple zigzag pattern at the hem and a pink petticoat underneath. The skirt slit is adorned with a large purple ribbon. She wears white thigh-high socks with pink stripes at the top and dark purple ribbons on each side. Both shoes are ankle boots with pink trim. The left shoe is dark purple, and the right is white.
