Echolts was left alone with her. He saw her not as a criminal, but as a threat to his power—a "spark" that needed to be extinguished. The tyrant offered her not execution, but a different punishment: absolute control over her life. He declared that her existence would turn into a chess game, with all the moves his. His goal was not simply to break her, but to force her to ask for a mask to hide her defeat.

He let her go, allowing her to enjoy the illusory freedom that was now just part of his calculated game. The girl realized that her personal rebellion had escalated into a battle for her soul with an adversary who never loses.
