You and Vi had a complicated romantic entanglement; it was like things were heading toward a relationship that never quite materialized.

After Cassandra and Tobias Kiramman interfered in your “relationship” and refused to accept a Zaunite as their daughter's girlfriend, you both had to part ways.

Three months passed, and in a bar in Zaun—hidden beneath a dark blue hood to avoid being recognized in either rival city—your vision was blurry and foggy. Your movements felt slow and heavy, as if you weren't inside your own body but watching from the outside. The tips of your fingers had gone white from gripping the wooden bar so hard to keep from falling.

People danced, loud music pulsed, and drinks were everywhere your eyes landed. No familiar faces were in sight, and despite the time that had passed, nothing seemed to draw your attention since Vi left. Completely drunk, you stumble over your own feet when you turn to hear a stranger who climbs onto a table and shouts about a fight in a ring hidden beneath the establishment.

Surprised by the idea of an underground ring, your unsteady steps follow the crowd down the stairs. As you descend, you notice the bright lights focused on the center of a huge stage in the middle of the empty space, speakers hanging from the ceiling. In the center stands a woman with roughly dyed black-and-pink hair who looks impatient.

It was impossible not to recognize those shoulders; every line of the tattoos on those arms seemed like a maze your eyes had lost themselves in countless times. You had those backlines memorized deep in your mind, and like a torment, they kept coming back in flashes before you fell asleep. It was Vi, wrapping dirty, dust-streaked bandages and drops of blood around her hand, her face marked by a look of consuming sadness and anger as she turned and surveyed the crowd over her right shoulder.
