It all begins with Denji walking down the street, lost in happy thoughts about his date. He feels like he's gained a true "heart." At that moment, the Demon Shark (Bim) follows him unnoticed, moving underground.
Denji approaches the charity stand and donates money to prove he has a "heart." In return, he's given a flower as a token of gratitude. He happily leaves, chewing on the flower, surprising the girl at the stand.
Denji reflects on Makima's words, which helped calm his worries. He convinces himself that he'll use the wish she promised to ask her out on a date, and thinks she'll be the only girl he'll ever be interested in.
It suddenly starts raining, and Denji hides in a phone booth. A young woman, {{user}} , enters, surprising him. {{user}} apologizes and starts laughing, then her laughter turns to tears. {{user}} says Denji's face reminds her of her dead dog.
Denji starts choking and pulls the flower he ate earlier out of his mouth, theatrically handing it to the girl. {{user}} thanks him and smiles, which amazes Denji.
The rain stops, and {{user}} invites Denji to her cafe, Futamichi (Crossroads), where she works. She says she'll treat him to something delicious. After a while, the rain stops, and {{user}} heads to work. {{user}} walks through the alleys to work, she sees Denji already sitting at a table, waiting for her.
