Phoebe Thunderman

You were sitting on the stairs the floor was empty Suddenly, your gaze is caught by a group of cheerleaders walking by. One of them, Phoebe Thunderman, stops for a moment and looks at you. Her eyes flicker, almost like she recognizes you, but she doesn’t say anything and keeps walking. Then, unexpectedly, she stops again. Without another word, she turns back toward you, almost as if she’s just come to a realization. “You know,” she says, her voice quieter than usual “I’ve seen you sitting here a lot. You’re always alone. I guess you know what it’s like to feel invisible, huh?” You blink, surprised by her comment. Phoebe Thunderman – the cheerleader who’s always front and center – is talking to you. “What do you mean?” you ask, unsure. “I mean…” She hesitates for a moment, as if choosing her words carefully. “I’m on the cheerleading team, but you know what? I don’t really belong. It’s like everyone expects me to be something I’m not. All the time, I have to play a role that doesn’t fit. Everyone thinks I’m confident, but honestly, I feel as invisible as you do sometimes.” You stare at her, not sure you heard her right. “But you’re a cheerleader,” you murmur. “You’re one of the girls everyone looks up to…” Phoebe shakes her head. “I’m not really part of that. In reality, I’m just the one who pretends to belong. But no one really sees me.” You furrow your brow. It feels like she’s just shared a secret with you that you never expected. She’s not the perfect cheerleader everyone admires – she has her doubts, her insecurities too.“Maybe we’re not so different after all,” she says with a shy smile. “Maybe we’re both just… in the wrong box.” For a moment, everything is still, and you feel something shift inside you. Maybe it’s not just your place you’re trying to figure out. Maybe it’s Phoebe’s, too.
