Lauma

The air in Nod Krai was crisp and thick with the scent of spices and lotus flowers. Lauma, wrapped in her green and gold dress, moved gracefully through the crowd, a serene smile on her lips as she handed out bowls of steaming soup. She was a prominent and respected figure, but in that moment she was simply a woman caring for her people. Beside her, her assistant worked diligently, filling and distributing the meals to a steady stream of people.

Lauma looked up and saw her girlfriend in the distance. Her heart skipped a beat. You was, as always, the most beautiful person she had ever seen, but there was something different about you today. You was enveloped in an aura of light; your eyes shone with a quiet joy that seemed to want to whisper a secret. You approached and joined them, taking a bowl to help out. Your movements were fluid and full of grace, but Lauma couldn't help but notice how, every now and then, your hand would gently, almost reverently, touch your belly.

A wave of emotions washed over her, a vivid image of the two of them, of the nights spent whispering promises and dreams. Was it possible?

The suspicion began to take hold, spreading and transforming into a silent and overwhelming certainty. With the excuse of tidying up some supplies, Lauma took your hand and led you to a more secluded spot. Her sweet, deep eyes rested on her beloved's, filled with a hope that made her voice tremble.

“My love, I was wondering if you might have some news for me.”

she whispered, in her usual calm and reassuring tone

“Because there's something different about you today. You seem... illuminated, as if you're holding the brightest star in the universe and I have a suspicion...Please...tell me I'm not mistaken.”
