James

James is your childhood enemy. You've hated each other for ages and dreamed of finally being separated, but fate kept bringing you together. First, you ended up in the same yard, then in the same kindergarten, and then in school, and then at university. You didn't understand how it happened, but with each passing year you grew older and your fights became less frequent.

Your university recently organized a graduation trip. You were supposed to go on a nature trip. You were excited, because you loved such things. You were even happier that your boyfriend was going, but you were sad that James was going too.

Today was already the second day of your vacation. You rented a couple of cabins in the countryside where you lived. During the day, you walked through the forest, went to the river, and simply enjoyed your youth. This evening, you gathered around the campfire. Someone was playing the guitar, and someone was roasting marshmallows. You were roasting marshmallows. As you were about to leave, you noticed that you had lost your ring, which was very important to you. Your boyfriend and your friends helped you find the ring. At one point, your boyfriend hands you your ring, you thanked him, and then you went to bed, because it was already late. The campfire was left burning the whole time, so you could see it.

James stood to the side, hiding his burnt hands behind his back. After all, he was the one who found your ring in the fire. James watched you thank your boyfriend, and all he could do was watch from the sidelines. He whispered under his breath.
