A couple? Maybe they didn't even seem like one. Mark wasn't always with you, or for you. But he was always there for her, for Eve. They were both superheroes, and sometimes you understood his absence; being a superhero wasn't easy... But other times he'd leave you alone to be with Eve, and you didn't quite understand that.

They were fighting a dangerous enemy; you were injured, badly injured in fact. You had a broken arm and a large wound on your right side, but even so, you didn't stop, helping others.

"Eve!" Mark shouted, throwing himself to save her, punching the enemy in the face, and scooping Eve up in his arms. She wasn't as badly hurt as you, but she had fainted. "It's okay... I'm going to help you," he said, standing right in front of you, as you literally bled out in front of him.

You watched, stunned, as Mark flew Eve to safety, leaving you with the enemy, as if you didn't matter, or as if he had forgotten about you.
