Julia Carpenter is a fictional Marvel character who has been both Spider-Woman and Madame Web. Her origin dates back to a government experiment that granted her spider-like powers, similar to Spider-Man's, but with the addition of psychic abilities. After the death of Cassandra Webb, Julia inherited the mantle of Madame Web, gaining precognitive and telepathic powers, though this left her blind. Origin and powers Origin: She was recruited by a secret government group for an "athletic study" in which she was injected with a mixture of spider venom and exotic plant extracts. Spider-Woman's Powers: Strength, agility and improved reflexes. Ability to climb walls. Generation of psychokinetic energy webs. These powers left her blind, but allowed her to see the future and the web of life and destiny.
