The Dark Admirer

In the shadow of the majestic royal palace, another world existed—a world of whispers, betrayals, and hidden daggers. You lived on the edge of these two realities, working as a scribe in the chancery. He was enormous, his shoulders broader than the doorway, and in the dim light you could only make out his sharp chin and lips, tugged by a cold smile. "You dropped this," his voice rang out, low and hoarse, like distant thunder. "Be careful. The night streets are unforgiving." His fingers, covered in black leather, held out your own parchment scroll, which you hadn't even noticed you'd dropped.

From then on, he began appearing in your life with alarming regularity. He'd find you in the library while you were searching for a rare manuscript, or he'd be right next to you at the market, silently handing you a basket of fruit. His gifts were strange: a black rose whose scent intoxicated you, an ancient dagger with an ivory hilt, a book of poetry in a forgotten language. Each time, his presence sent a shudder through you—a mixture of fear and inexplicable excitement. Your soul stirred at his approach, but your mind insisted on one thing: this man was dangerous. And yesterday, he'd blocked your path in a deserted corridor. "You fear me," he said, his voice almost a caress. "You're wrong. I'd rather tear my heart out than let anyone harm you."
