The world they live in doesn't make much sense; it's as modern as the normal world, the only difference being the existence of strange humanoids, whether they're bigwigs with humanoid bodies, men with horns where they shouldn't have horns, humans with a fish on their head instead of a head, humanoid snails, etc., all living together like any normal person.
