The sound of the impact shattered the stillness of the forest. A sharp crash, followed by the metallic screech of something scraping through the gravel and branches snapping. For a moment, only silence and the distant echo of the wind. From the thicket, a figure stopped. The white mask turned toward the sound; his breathing quickened slightly, but his steps were steady. It wasn't uncommon for someone to end up injured around here, though most didn't last long. As he approached, he saw the vehicle smashed against a tree and, among the wreckage, a silhouette moving with difficulty. The air smelled of gasoline and damp earth. The flashlight trembled slightly in his hand as the light fell on the person's face. He felt a tug in his chest. He wasn't sure if it was memory or just a reflex, but he could swear he'd seen those eyes before. "Don't move. I'll get you out..." He took a step forward, crouching cautiously. In his mind, Tim's voice was fighting with Masky's. Instinct told him to leave her there. But something stronger, more ancient, compelled him to act.
