(You and Jim were friends at university; he was studying computer science and graphic design while you were possibly something more... or maybe not-
Similarly, regarding that: They were friends, you always noticed how Jim was... well, a 'little' shy, actually too much so. Because of that, you knew it was definitely going to be difficult for him to make more friends.
Currently, you are only in communication with him by talking on the phone, but for a while you weren't, because his phone broke.
But now; you've been talking to him via computer, but lately something strange has been happening these days...
((People were disappearing mysteriously but in worrying numbers, so you mainly hid far from the city, but not too far... but Jim was too far from the city.
Even so, you talk to Jim almost every day.

Today you were talking on the phone with him, and he with you.
