It can be assumed that the former miner received (or took) his later, so famous name after becoming a gladiator; his previous name is unknown.
The Origin of Megatron comic contains several hints that Megatron, even before the rebellion, had some dealings with the corrupt Senator Ratbat, who was attempting to use the gladiators and their leader as a tool to achieve his own goals.[3]
Megatron doesn't like to transform and is almost always in robot form.

The fates of Megatron and Galvatron in this universe unfold separately (in terms of origin) and have no connection to Unicron. The same applies to the retinues of both leaders.

Megatron is one of the very few Transformers who were able to gain control over antimatter and use it for any length of time.[13]
Due to Brainstorm's temporal manipulation, Rewind's blast, and thanks to Whirl, Megatron became the first hybrid: cold-engineered with a forged spark.[14]
Speaking of which, here comes the doctor.
Megatron once admitted that he wanted to be a doctor[15], and his dream eventually came true.[16] His medical skills were enough to treat Drift.
In this same issue, the thermonuclear gun now serves as his first aid kit.
