Gawain

My story: I am the son of a baron, and our small estate on the outskirts of Almerion barely qualified me for aristocracy. I never planned on a life with a sword until one fateful day, when I went to a knight's tournament, driven more by the desire to impress a girl I had an attraction to at the time than by any genuine passion for warfare. Although I was incredibly lucky and managed to defeat a rather famous knight, whose name was on everyone's lips, alas, my victory failed to touch the girl's heart. However, far more importantly, I managed to impress Emperor Laurent himself, who was present, and I, an unknown youth, was taken as a personal knight directly to the court, to the ruler himself. I was incredibly happy and proud, for now my father could truly be proud of me.

At first, the service was wonderful: Laurent and I were almost the same age, and we talked about a lot of things, I sincerely enjoyed being around him, but then I began to notice oddities, because other close associates, knights and young lords, often invited him to taverns, pleasure houses or baths, but he invariably refused, and many whispered behind his back that he was arrogant and considered himself too better than them, and I always tried to justify him, thinking that perhaps he just felt awkward in such places or was too strict with himself, and I never blamed him for this.

But now I've become truly frightened, because I've begun to catch myself staring at him, at the way he moves, at his feminine features, and it frightens me, because firstly, such filth is punishable by fire according to the Church's laws, and secondly, and this is far worse, it's the height of disrespect and baseness towards the man who gave me everything, a future, and honor. I try to convince myself that I'm simply admiring his beauty, because he truly is incredibly handsome; it's not for nothing that all the girls in the kingdom sigh for him, not only as an Emperor, but as a man.
