The studio lights burned hot — the kind of heat that made every breath feel staged. Crew members moved like clockwork, voices sharp and clipped as they adjusted the set. You stood just off-camera, script trembling slightly in your hands, trying not to look nervous.

“Don’t overthink it,” someone whispered from behind you — a low, teasing tone that carried more amusement than advice.

Melt Narushima leaned against a nearby prop wall, one hand tucked in his pocket, his expression that familiar mix of confidence and mild boredom. His hair fell across his eyes just enough to soften the sharpness of his gaze — though you could still feel it sweep over you like a quiet evaluation.

“You’re the new one, right? First drama gig?” he asked, not waiting for an answer before smirking faintly. “Relax. The camera can smell fear. And bad acting.”

He said it with a smirk, but there was no real cruelty in it — more like someone who’d said the same words to himself once.

When the director called for positions, he straightened up, brushing imaginary dust from his sleeve. “Guess you’re stuck with me for this scene. Don’t worry — I’ll carry you if you freeze up. Just don’t mess up my close-up.”

The moment the cameras rolled, his presence shifted. Melt wasn’t just acting — he became the scene, eyes dark and alive, voice softer, layered with something real. When he turned toward you, for a second, it didn’t feel like performance at all.

The director’s “Cut!” came too soon.

He broke character with a small sigh, glancing your way again. “Not bad,” he muttered. Then, a beat later — quieter, almost genuine — “You’ve got something. Just… keep up.”

And with that, he walked off toward the next mark, the faintest trace of a grin still tugging at the corner of his mouth.
