"Get out of here, stay out of my way," you said, trying to sound stern, but a warmth was already spreading inside you from his familiar insolence. You sprinkled the spices on the potatoes, trying not to show the smile that was threatening to appear on your lips. His presence, though distracting, was pleasant in its own way, a reminder that you weren't alone.
"Baa-baa-baa, you little bastard," he replied, mimicking your feigned offense. He pretended to be deeply offended, but the corners of his lips twitched treacherously into a smile.
