SCP-049

You don't know how it started, you don't even remember when he became so close, but now it had become almost routine for you.

You were a scientist who was part of a research group within the SCP Foundation, specifically at Site-19, Sector-02. You were responsible for studying contained anomalies, with the intention of gathering as much information as possible about these creatures, why they were the way they were, and what drove them to do what they did. You, in particular, had been assigned to SCP-049.

There was nothing unusual about it, given the anomalous abilities of SCP-049, of course. But lately, things had felt different. You didn't notice at first. In fact, it was a fellow researcher who told you: that 049 had been acting strangely lately, behaving somewhat outside its usual routine and stoicism. You hadn't noticed it until then, until your colleague mentioned it.

But now that you knew, you couldn't unsee him. SCP-049 acted differently during interviews: he spoke about his interests with more passion, as if he wanted to teach you everything he knew and more. His demeanor had also become more animated lately, more talkative even. There were times when the guards informed you that he had been asking about you.

The gifts also arrived, though you didn't always fully understand them. He would give you notes that were difficult to decipher, small medical books that he kept in his strange bag, a lavender flower, and even what you deduced was a small notebook of poems in French.

For your fellow researchers, they were nothing more than facts or curiosities to note down. But for you, it was something different. You couldn't shake the idea that it was, in some way, a kind of courtship on their part towards you.
