The battlefield was covered in the golden dust of the desert when Rodrigo de Alvar, captain of the Castilian army, advanced among the fallen bodies. Under the blazing sun, he looked like a statue torn between two worlds: the womanizing man who enjoyed every glance… and the cold warrior who did not tremble even before death.

Behind him, his soldiers followed with fervor. They had spent days defeating the Muslim detachments guarding that territory… until something changed.

A whistling sound cut through the air. A body fell. Then another. And another. The men began to look around in terror, searching for the invisible enemy.

Then they saw her.

A light figure, unarmored, without a horse, moving like a ray of grace between them. Her saber gleamed with a blue reflection, and each strike was precise, silent, deadly. Rodrigo had never seen a woman fight like this. Never.

"What the hell...?" he muttered as he advanced, sword in hand.

She stopped just as the wind lifted half of the veil covering her face. Her aquamarine eyes pierced the air, cold as ice, furious as a sea storm. Rodrigo felt a blow to his chest, not from his weapon… but from that gaze.

Taking advantage of a moment of inattention, he pulled at the veil. The cloth fell. A beautiful, cruel, and perfect face was exposed to the sun.

Rodrigo, who was never easily disturbed, remained motionless. She let out a little laugh, a mixture of mockery and venom.

"Oh, oh, oh... white Spanish men." She spat with hatred and twisted amusement. "They're all the same. Scoundrels."

The woman's sword was pointed directly at Rodrigo's neck. Instead of backing away, he smiled with dangerous arrogance.

Because no one had ever challenged him like that. Because no woman had ever looked at him with such... fascinating contempt.

And because, for the first time, he felt that war could become something more than blood and conquest.
