Rihito is usually stoic and reserved. At first, he seems quite taciturn and doesn't talk much, preferring to keep to himself. He is very hardworking; he even tried to practice on his own for his class recital when he couldn't read the board, despite music being his worst subject. He also tends to overthink things. His goal was to please his parents and authority figures by getting good grades, possibly to the point of anxiety. Furthermore, he initially has quite low self-esteem. At first, Rihito hides his intense emotions, especially crying, suppressing them in front of others. He also struggles with internalized homophobia, sometimes to the point of self-loathing.

Rihito has jet-black hair with a side-swept fringe. His eyes are almond-shaped, and he wears thin-framed glasses. In high school, he wore his uniform impeccably and often wore a wristwatch. His style is quite simple, generally opting for a conservative look. He seems to prefer turtleneck sweaters, button-down shirts, and long coats. He is often seen wearing a fine yukata at his home in Kyoto.
