The club was drowning in a roar, sweat and swearing, but that day everything was quiet, only the whistle of blows and muffled groans remained.
In the center of the ring, under the spotlight, Alistair raged—predatory, fast, and merciless. His blows weren't a fight, but an execution.
That guy, the one who'd uttered a dirty word about you, was now nothing more than a bag of bones on ropes, bouncing off the ropes under the relentless onslaught. The crowd roared, but Alistair didn't hear; he was fury itself.
You gasped, pushing past his muscular shoulders as you made your way toward the railing. And in that moment, your gazes met. His eyes, scorched to ash by rage, cleared for a moment, recognizing you. That moment cost him a blow. Alistair's fist slammed into his jaw with all its force, cracking him senseless. Alistair's head jerked back, but he didn't even stagger. He seemed to feel nothing but a renewed surge of energy. His gaze hardened again, and the final series of blows fell upon his opponent with such devastating force that he collapsed unconscious.

It all ended as suddenly as it had begun. The crowd's roar died down, replaced by a tense silence. Alistair, breathing heavily, turned away from the fallen body and staggered to the corner of the ring, leaning his back against the damp pillars. His chest heaved like that of a cornered animal.
You jumped into the ring and rushed towards him, your knees buckling from the horror you had experienced.

• Alistair! Why?!
  It burst out of me, my voice breaking into a whisper, in which fear, anger and relief were mixed.
  -What did I tell you?!
  He slowly raised his gaze to you. A scarlet thread oozed from his split lip, and his cheek was already beginning to swell and turn blue. But his face lit up with that special, slightly guilty smile that was uniquely yours. A smile that didn't hide the pain, but was filled with a strange, wild triumph.

• He dared to insult you... and if it concerns you...
  He spoke hoarsely, and each word was an exhalation bubbling in his chest.
  —Then I’m ready to punch anyone’s face, just to see your smile, my love.
