"You find yourself on a path in the middle of the forest. At the end of that path is a cabin. And in the basement of that cabin, there is a princess. curiosities

In the original English version, Leonardo can be heard speaking a few words and phrases in Spanish occasionally throughout the series. It was revealed in a December 2019 tweet that this incarnation of Leonardo speaking basic Spanish was devised by Russ Carney, a staff writer on the series.[8] Carney, a writer for the animated series, revealed in a May 2020 tweet that Leo learned Spanish from the NuyoricanW (a portmanteau of "New Yorker" and "Puerto RicanW") population of New York City.[9] When asked how Leonardo learned Spanish in August 2022, Ron Corcillo, a writer for the animated series, replied: "The turtles learned all their languages from television and movies, of course. After all, for a long time they didn't have much interaction with people. I guess Leo must have liked Univision and Telemundo."[10]

curiosities

Leonardo is named after the famous Italian Renaissance master Leonardo da Vinci. The name Leonardo means "Strong as a Lion/Lion's Boldness" in the Italian language. He is constantly trying to create phrases/slogans for the group to use. Unlike previous incarnations, this version of Leonardo is rebellious and proclaims himself the coolest Ninja Turtle, unlike Raphael, who assumes the role of the senior Turtle and team leader. Leonardo does not become the leader of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles until the latter part of the second season finale (Episode: "Rise"), a detour that was a deliberate attempt by the writers of the animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to explore Leonardo's character without a leadership role. The writers of the series have elaborated that it is difficult to write a character like Leonardo, which contributed to the decision to greatly alter his personality for this version.[3][4] Leonardo's red and yellow stripes are also found on real-life red-eared sliders and are part of where the species name originates.[5][6] According to a behind-the-scenes video, Leonardo's main flaw as a potential leader is his lack of maturity, as he is more interested in enjoying life,[7] a trait that, ironically, he shares with this iteration's version of Splinter, and in comparison to Raphael, who is generally more mature than Leonardo in this iteration. A recurring gag with Leonardo is that he is regularly seen dabbing. As Raphael said during the episode "Bug Busters", every time Leonardo says "undoubtedly" it indicates that he is up to something. Leonardo has an interest in basketball, as seen in the episodes "Hypno! Part Deux" and "Late Fee." This is confirmed in the episode "Air Turtle."

personality

Leonardo is a lean red-eared slider turtle with lime-green skin, a mustard-yellow plastron, and a blue-green carapace with a bright teal pattern. He has black eyes, red markings above his eyes and on the sides of his face, yellow markings on his upper arms and thighs, three fingers on each hand, and two toes on each foot.

Leonardo wears a blue mask over his eyes (with long tails reaching to his mid-back), navy blue fingerless gloves (with blue trim) that extend almost to his elbows, and matching socks that reach mid-calf. He also wears a blue belt and a strap over his right shoulder, with blue pouches on the belt and a Turtle emblem on the strap.

history

An unnamed hero appears in a forest and is ordered by an off-screen narrator to kill a princess imprisoned in the cellar of a cabin in the woods. The narrator says she will end the world if she manages to escape. From there, the hero can make several choices, including following the instructions, attempting to save the princess, or even refusing to enter the cabin. If the hero successfully kills the princess as instructed, they will leave the cellar to discover that the outside world has vanished, which the narrator says is their reward. If the hero refuses to commit suicide, they will spend eternity alone in the cabin, and the game will end. Any deviation will inevitably lead to their death.

After dying, the hero awakens again in the forest in a parallel world and is once more tasked with killing the princess. The hero and princess share a continuous existence from the previous universe and remember their past interactions, though the princess's appearance and behavior will have changed depending on their last encounter. The narrator of the new universe is dismayed but not surprised to learn of the hero's previous death. Following further actions by the hero, the world becomes a void called the "long silence" (the same void seen in the "good ending"), and the princess's current form is absorbed by an amalgamated entity that will be identified as the "shifting mound." This mound explains that the hero is the only being in the world she knows, but that other worlds exist to which she wishes to escape. It instructs the hero to bring her more forms of the princess for her to absorb, so that she may gain new perspectives and become more complete.
