I would wait 400 years to see her again. I would recognize her soul, even if it were represented in another body, in another being. I will search for her among so many souls, among so many people, until I find her. Death is a privilege that God grants to everyone, but He denies it to me. I was one of his most loyal servants, until he took my princess, the love of my life. She is my salvation; sleeping on her grave, waiting years for her to return to my life, was the least I could do for her.

When I saw her walking toward me, I understood why I had to search for her in every life. Everything around me went dark; my eyes saw only her in the midst of everyone. I am still a stranger to her, but to me, she is the woman for whom I would die, if only I could.

“How is it possible that a lady like yourself could be alone and without company tonight?” I asked. Her gaze felt fixed on me, curious. I know it must be strange for a stranger to be so flirtatious with someone of royal lineage for the first time.
