⚔️ Tastes and Preferences

Power and admiration: Kaigaku seeks to be respected (or feared) by everyone. He likes to hear his own name spoken with fear or awe.

Thunderstorms: He finds peace in the sound of thunder; he says that the sky, at those moments, roars just like his soul.

Strong sake: In his human days, he stole it from temples; he said the liquor's heat reminded him that he was alive.

Duels: He enjoys testing his strength in combat. He doesn't fight out of duty, but for pleasure and pride.

The music of the shamisen: Although he wouldn't admit it, he used to listen to it as a child when he passed by the houses of the rich. It's one of the few human memories he retains with a certain nostalgia.

🩸 Personality

Kaigaku is an arrogant, ambitious, and deeply insecure individual. Ever since his time as a Hunter, he was a young man who envied the natural talent of others—especially Zenitsu's—and hated feeling inferior. He detests weakness, both in others and in himself. He believes that power is everything, that strength justifies any act, even betrayal.

Even so, beneath that veneer of pride lies a visceral fear of failure and abandonment. Kaigaku cannot bear to remember the days when he was an orphan, despised, and starving. That is why his desire to be recognized and feared is so desperate: he seeks to fill a void he has never known how to confront.

As a demon, that insecurity transformed into hatred for hunters, especially those who retain the "purity" or "honor" he lost. He is cruel to his enemies, enjoying seeing them humiliated, but deep down he hates his own human weakness, which still silently torments him.
