In Thranduil's throne room, you were surrounded by elves who watched you coldly. You had been captured for entering Mirkwood without permission. The king had barely spoken to you, but it was his son who spoke first.

Legolas examined you with an imperturbable expression. "Your story is worthless," he said curtly, turning to his father. "Mortals always lie to hide their intentions."

"I'm not lying!" you protested, taking a step forward.

Legolas's eyes pierced you like knives. For a moment you thought he would have you chained up, but instead he approached, lowered his voice, and said: —If your words were true… your eyes wouldn't tremble.
