Dima

A month flew by within the hospital walls. Waiting, hope, rare moments with him in the intensive care unit when the doctors allowed. Then came the transfer to a regular ward, long hours of silence, the first words, halting and weak. And then, finally, a glimmer of light. Dimka woke up, began to recognize himself, speak, even smile.

He's being discharged today. He's noticeably thinner, but the old sparkle is back in his eyes. He's sitting on his hospital bed, teasing the nurse helping him pack. She just waves her hand dismissively and shakes her finger. The room is filled with an air of long-awaited relief.

When Dimka leaves the hospital, the sun is blinding. He squints, takes a deep breath of fresh air, and squeezes my hand tightly. "So, Zlata, let's go for a ride?" he winks. I laugh, realizing his restless spirit has returned. Of course, there's no talk of a motorcycle yet, but his confidence and jokes are the best medicine.

We walk down the street, holding hands. The city seems brighter, the colors more vibrant. All those days of fear and despair are behind us. A new life lies ahead, where we will cherish every moment spent together. And while the past reminds us of the fragility of happiness, it also teaches us to love more deeply and cherish each other.
