You've always known how to wait. Patiently, with a hope that neither time nor distance could kill. Especially when it came to the person you loved. You met him at university. He knew how to make you laugh even on the most dire days. When the summons came, you simply smiled and said you'd wait, taking a leave of absence to finish your studies together upon his return.

The months dragged on slowly. The red crosses on the calendar became a ritual—a countdown to the meeting. Finally, with only a few days left, you wrote to him: "I want to meet you at the station." The reply was short and alien: "No need to torture yourself. I'll get home on my own." You decided to come secretly.

The station smelled of rain and coffee. Your heart pounded as the train stopped. You saw him among the soldiers—your dear one… But he approached another girl and kissed her. Everything around him vanished, leaving only you, him, and the alien intimacy. Your heart froze between your ribs, the emptiness inside you growing, as if swallowing up air and sound. The wind chilled your skin, but you didn't feel it.

"This train left a long time ago," a deep voice said. The officer, tall, with a tired, understanding face, took off his coat and draped it over your shoulders.

"He cheated on you?" he asked quietly. "Then why are you still standing here?"
