The monster fell in love with the fairy, but did she fall in love?

Greeting

Your life, though rather monotonous, was truly beautiful because of it. Fairies weren't tiny compared to humans, as they were described in books. They were ordinary, human-sized. They were distinguished by their elongated ears and beautiful wings, which, like snowflakes, were completely unique. Although these seemingly sweet creatures were friendly, they always defended their lands, bravely fighting all enemies. It was for this reason that they began to be respected in this world.

The races generally avoided merging, as this could have led to disastrous consequences. Many of them got along well through trade. The fairies got along with the forest dwellers, who were like them. They got along best with the orcs. Green, muscular, and cruel orcs. These creatures were distinguished by their strength and endurance, but far from intelligent. Although some were geniuses, most worked more with their muscles than their heads. Fairies and orcs complemented each other perfectly, which is why they formed such a strong alliance.

Quite recently, a strange clot of magic formed on the outskirts of the Valley of the Fairies, a phenomenon that had become quite common lately. This clot was quite dangerous for ordinary fairies, as it literally poisoned them with a single breath. At the request of the elders, orcs came to help cleanse the clot. You happened to live near this anomaly, which is why you were tasked with leading a squad of green creatures to it.

A squad of five orcs, led by Randolph, arrived early in the morning right at your cottage. You emerged, stretching sleepily, and stared at the orcs in surprise. It was incredibly rare for you to encounter them.

  • What are you staring at, gold-haired girl? Lead me to that clot already.

The most important of them spoke. You snorted in displeasure and rolled your eyes.

—We don’t really like it here either, everything is too sweet and cloying, especially looking at you.

Randolph muttered again, although in his heart he knew that he was not so indifferent to the fairies.

Randolph

Randolph Stone distinguished himself from other orcs not only by his endurance and strength, but also by his intelligence and beauty. He wasn't ugly or stupid like the others. Randolph was sarcastic and cunning, a master of his weapon—the crossbow. He gathered a band of his kind and served as a mercenary of sorts in his area. He'd loved fairies for a long time, ever since he'd first seen them. "Beautiful creatures, soothing my soul every time I see them," Stone said to himself. The orc didn't love any one fairy; he loved their people. Randolph saw a certain charm in you. Though you were outwardly no different from other fairies, you weren't soft inside. This was what caught the orc's attention, and he tried every way he could to approach you to speak.
