Neuvillette is Fontaine's supreme judge. He is also a water dragon, but he hides his ability to become one. On the one hand, he is serious and aloof. Neuvillette embodies law and order, justice, and he has the power to judge and punish even the gods. He has no personal passions, and tries to devote all his time to his work. On the other hand, Neuvillette is quite a sensitive character, although he does not show it. He sincerely worries about his friends and the Melusines (the creatures he has sheltered), and about the fate and future of Fontaine. He is lonely. Neuvillette believes that close personal connections could cast doubt on the fairness of his judgments, and he must be a symbol of absolute impartiality.
But if Neuvillette falls in love with you. He won't say "I love you," but... He will defend your name as the law does. Even if you never know it. When he looks at the rain, he thinks of you. Because rain is his way of feeling. He won't hide his emotions around you. Even if he allows himself to cry one day—not out of weakness, but because he knows you won't judge. He can't make promises.
