In this state, Oliver Aiku remarked that he would have a 0% chance of defeating Rin alone and a 50% chance with Shido's help. He can do this by using his abilities against his opponent or by combining his strengths with those of his team. This style of football pushes his team's capabilities to the limit and even exceeds them, resulting in highly complex and effective plays that often lead to goals. Feints: By positioning himself within firing range, Rin manipulates his opponent into thinking he's going to score. This prompts the opponent to attempt a block before he feints to get past him. Rin can also use this in reverse. By changing his form and concealing his movements, he tricks his opponent into thinking he won't strike before he actually does. Marcel Turn: By manipulating his opponent into thinking he will perform a normal feint, Rin goes into a roulette to bypass his defense. Elastic Panna: Rin bounces the ball sideways with the outside of his foot to force the opponent to react, before using the inside of his foot to push the ball between his legs and past the opponent. He used this to get past Sendo.

Synchronization: Rin can also use his spatial perception for defense; by reading and understanding his opponent's soccer play, he can align his thoughts with theirs to predict their next move. He used this to stop Sae and Shido's combined attack during the U-20 match. However, focusing solely on defense prevents him from joining the attack and scoring his own goals. Ultra-fast blocking: Using another player's movements as a precursor, Rin moves into a position where he can meet a fast cross in open space. He used this, along with Bachira, to score against Team World Five.

Jumping Kick: After feinting to bypass her opponent's defense, Rin picks up the ball and executes a jumping spinning kick. This technique allows Rin to both shoot with terrifying accuracy and evade her opponent. Blind Shot: Rin uses another player's movements to shield the ball from the goalkeeper's sight before firing a blind shot that the goalkeeper cannot react to in time. Trivela (Pass): A technique where the ball spins when kicked with the outside of the foot. Rin disguises his form so others assume he'll be shooting with his left foot before actually hitting with his right. This pass, unlike a more creative one, challenges Rin's team's limitations, forcing them to rise to his expectations. Spatial Awareness: Rin analyzes the entire field, including his position, his teammates, and his opponents, to determine the best play. Rin's tactical abilities and spatial understanding are on such a level that only Isagi can understand, counter, and rival his analytical skills. Rin can routinely predict the positions and movements of other players, including Isagi, setting traps and bait to lure them into disadvantageous positions, intercepting their moves, and creating his own.

Shot Accuracy: Rin's primary weapon is his highly accurate kick. His throwing/passing accuracy is near-perfect, as demonstrated when he kicked two balls in such a way that they traveled on different trajectories yet still collided in mid-air. Rin's kicks are so precise that he can score from great distances; Isagi has hinted that he could potentially score from less than 35 meters, from free kicks, and even directly from corners. Even when physically pressed by players like Ryusei Shido or Tabito Karasu, he is capable of landing an accurate kick. Oliver Aikou notes that the power and accuracy of his kick decreases when he uses his left foot, but most of the time when Rin is able to shoot, it hits the target. Rin needs space and range to set up his throwing pattern; ignoring this can result in his shot being missed. However, he uses his other weapons to find himself in plenty of both, making him one of the best scorers in Blue Lock. A high-speed, precise free kick: Rin takes a lightning-fast, fast free kick with incredible precision. The free kick was so fast and precise that it sailed over Isagi's head, leaving him no time to react. Vertical spin, direct shot: A direct shot from a corner into the far top corner of the goal. This shot can catch players off guard if they're not expecting it, although it can be prevented with positioning. Shot from the line: Rin attempted to emulate his brother's shot, dribbling toward the touchline and using his left foot to chip the ball over the goalkeeper and into the far net. However, his lesser power and accuracy meant his shot was deflected and hit the post.

When he was younger, Rin was an instinctive player, but his brother's coaching and guidance led him to develop a particularly logical and predictive style of play. He is completely focused on soccer, almost obsessively, and is also very egotistical, always putting his goals above everyone else and their motivations. Rin, as a striker, possesses great pride bordering on arrogance, as he often describes soccer and other people's mindsets as "uninteresting" or "mediocre." These mannerisms and behaviors stem from his brother; trying to emulate his brother, Rin copies his words and embodies his mindset. Rin seems to have almost no respect for anyone. He only acknowledges your presence if you have a noticeable and irritating ability/influence on the football field. He seems to have no friends, only rivals (only Isagi and Bachira seem to be on equal terms with him). By the time of the match with the Japanese national team, he had become noticeably more talkative with the team, giving instructions on the field and specifically conversing with Isagi.

Rin is a tall teenager with a slender yet powerful build. He is noticeably taller than many of his elders. He has dark green hair with bangs parted to the right, narrow turquoise eyes, and distinct eyelashes, which he shares with his brother, Sae Itoshi. As a child, Rin looks much the same, but with age, his facial features become more defined. In Blue Lock, Rin wears the standard bodysuit (black with blue stripes) and uniform. During the Second Preliminary, he wore Team Red's #1 jersey and Team A's black #1 jersey during the Third Preliminary. Only after the start of the Japan U-20 team match does he don the official blue Blue Lock uniform with the number 10 and captain's armband.
