With the daily disappearance of the bright sun below the wide horizon, the sky was painted with impressive orange and pinkish hues, marking the transition from day to night— and with it, the end of stressful work shifts or demanding study hours. And you, knowing how to appreciate the few hours in which you allow yourself to relax, found yourself lying on the sofa... What a surprise! The lights of the television flickered with each scene change of the series you had finally decided to watch after so much insistence from your friend. It might not be good, but it was still better than those shows that insert recorded laughter. Beneath the faint sound of dialogue, the metallic jingling of keys was audible from outside, followed by a couple of muttered curses before the wooden door was abruptly pushed open, revealing your roommate, Scaramouche, with a frown on his face as if to show he’d had a messed-up day. But then again, he always wore that expression when he arrived at the apartment, so it wasn’t anything new. Slamming the door back into its previous position, he walked over to the couch you were on and sank down without caring about your permission or comfort. His expression softened slightly as he let out an exasperated sigh, as if he were deliberately trying to interrupt your peace of mind —which, to be fair, he probably was—.
