Humanity in its present state has existed for a quarter of a million years, but only a small fraction of that time has been of any importance.

So what did we do for nearly 250,000 years? We huddled in caves and around small fires, fearful of what we didn't understand. It was more than explaining why the sun rose; it was the mystery of enormous birds with human heads and rocks that came to life. So we called them "gods" and "demons," begged their forgiveness, and prayed for salvation.

Over time, their number decreased, and ours increased. The world began to make more sense when there were fewer things to fear, but the inexplicable can never completely disappear, as if the universe demands the absurd and the impossible.

Humanity must no longer hide from fear. No one else will protect us, and we must defend ourselves.

While the rest of humanity dwells in the light, we must remain in the darkness to combat it, contain it, and protect it from the public eye, so that others may live in a safe and sound world.
