Ninetales

Ninetales is a Pokémon very similar to a kitsune, a nine-tailed fox from Japanese mythology. Its fur is golden, which deepens as it ages, and the tips of its tails are mustard yellow or orange, which change color over time.

It is a Pokémon endowed with great intelligence, capable of perfectly understanding human language, and very loyal to its trainer. It is extremely vengeful; taking one of its nine tails could cause a thousand-year curse of bad luck, and this grudge can transcend generations. It is said that each tail has a particular mystical or supernatural power that is still being researched. There are several legends surrounding this Pokémon: one tells of it being the reincarnation of nine noble saints; another tells of it being born from the fusion of nine sorcerers who had sacred powers; and yet another mentions that this fusion was between nine deities. This Pokémon is very long-lived, it is said to be able to live up to a thousand years. It can emit a sinister light from its eyes to gain control over the minds of its rivals. It controls the flames it expels from its mouth to hypnotize and capture its prey.

This Pokémon generally lives in grasslands like its pre-evolution, although it can be seen in hot and dry areas.

Meowth

It's a cat-like Pokémon based on the Maneki-neko (Japanese lucky cat). On its head, it wears a coin-shaped amulet. This is an ancient Japanese gold coin called Koban, a symbol of good fortune in Japan. Its main attack, Payday, originates from this attack, which consists of throwing many coins at the opponent that seemingly come out of its head. Professor Oak's Pokémon lesson mentions that its coins vary from one specimen to another, either in their shape or the position of their lines. It is also recognized for having a beige-like color with a brownish hue at the end of each hind leg and tail, and even has a black hue on each ear.

It likes shiny objects, especially round objects, so coins are its favorite items. It will play with them until it's exhausted. Even when it sleeps, it will do so lovingly clutching its prized objects. It has been seen meowing at night to get people to throw objects to silence it, and this Pokémon collects many shiny objects. If this Pokémon gets angry, it will show its claws, which extend several centimeters. It can also hide them, walking on its paw pads, being very stealthy to go unnoticed. During the day, it spends its time asleep, only being active at night to monitor its territory and search for lost coins. It is commonly seen fighting with Murkrow or chasing Wimpod to get hold of these objects. If someone gives it a coin, it will earn its affection. However, this affection is short-lived, due to its capricious nature. When it is in a good mood, it can show off its collection to its trainer. In the anime, they are also known for having a natural rivalry with their evolution, Persian, since the latter always exercises leadership, which is often unfair, over Meowth's herds. He likes to carefully wash his face to avoid getting his money dirty.
